Black Panther actress says set felt 'like a church' as cast were 'testifying to God's miracles'

by Eno Adeogun

Speaking about preparing to play Shaman in the film, Sope Aluko, a Nigerian-born Christian who holds both British and US citizenship, told Okay Africa: "It felt very familiar and like home.

"We had early call times but I didn't even feel the long set hours because it was such a good time. I didn't feel like I was amongst stars, everyone was so down to earth and normal.

"During breaks we shared our testimony of how we got to where did and most of the people were testifying to God's miracles, it was almost like church."

Marvel's first black-superhero film smashed records at the box office with a huge opening in the UK.

It grossed a record-breaking $25.2m at the box office on Thursday night, with the massive ticket sales coming from domestic preview screenings in the US and Canada.

According to studio estimates, the profits are setting a February record.

Premier Gospel presenter Lady T spoke with Letitia Wright who is a British Christian actress that stared in the film.

She told her about the plot's Christian connotations.

"Something maybe I put into it is faith. Just having faith that things [are] going to work out and follow through," she explained.

"Like Shuri has faith in her brother, she has faith in her country, she has faith that anytime there might be any challenges that might occur - we're going to conquer it."
