Mark Madavan, from Locks Heath Free Church near Fareham (pictured below), is making the tandem dive with the Royal Army Corps near Swindon in September.
Locks Heath Free Church needs to raise £4.2m in order to make the planned extension (see picture below), which is underway because of increasing numbers of people using the church.
Mr Madavan is looking to raise £13,000 from the jump - one pound for every foot he falls.
He told Premier: "I like adrenaline to be honest. I like doing crazy things. I've never done this before, but I've always fancied doing it. A member of my church, when he heard that I fancied doing it - he's an army guy - he arranged for me to do it. So suddenly I find myself signed up to jump 13,000 feet.
"I'm really looking forward to it. I went and met some of the team a couple days ago and they're telling me all their scary stories, so it just got me more excited to be honest.
"We get over 800 folks come through our doors each week, and we just have run out of room so we're having to turn things away and stop things, which is frustrating.
"There's a massive field next to our church that the council have finally decided to sell to us, and now we have the opportunity to build and we're going to build big."
