Child stabbed after claims she was possessed by Jesus

It's understood the eight year old is in a critical condition in hospital after the incident which allegedly happened early on Wednesday morning.

A source has been quoted by the Sun newspaper as saying: "It's claimed the woman thought the girl was possessed by Jesus."

Meanwhile, relatives of the youngster have been praying for her survival and keeping watch at her bedside at the hospital.

Detectives and forensic experts have been searching the scene of the stabbing, while a 48 year old - who cannot be named for legal reasons - has been reported to prosecutors in connection with the incident.

The girl's uncle was reported by the Sun as saying: "It has been a huge shock. We are all just praying for my niece."
