Christian Lib Dem group confident of further coalition role

The Lib Dems took their first steps into government in the 2010 general election, where they picked up 23% of the vote.

An agreement was made with the Conservatives to form a coalition that saw Nick Clegg become Deputy Prime Minister.

Claire Mathys has been speaking at the Lib Dem party conference in Glasgow.

She said: "It looks like neither the Conservatives or the Labour Party have done enough so far to actually win the election, so actually it's very possible that there'll be a coalition and we're very much looking and planning ahead that we'll be in government again."

The Times recently claimed first-time voters are almost 80% less likely to vote Liberal Democrat in the 2015 general election than they were in 2010.

Elsewhere at the conference, business secretary Vince Cable said the Conservative Party is ideologically obsessed with cuts.

At his party conference speech in Glasgow, he said it was a fantasy to think that more cuts won't do great harm to valuable services.
