Relationship breakdown costs Britain around £47 billion each year, but only £7.5 million of government funding is made available for breakdown prevention.
It is thought there is an increasing demand for help in this area and MPs and other leaders have written an open letter in the Telegraph to the Government asking them to do more.
Fiona Bruce, Christian Conservative MP for Congleton told Premier's News Hour it's needed in today's world: "I believe that we need to review how we support people and their relationships and to help people have healthy relationships, we don't have a problem helping people understabd about healthy eating, why not help make people understand what makes a healthy relationship?"
Family instability can have a negative impact on mental and phyiscal health, producitivity in the workplace - as well as things like children's eductational achievements and reoffending rates.
The signatories to this letter want the government to provide an extra £22 million to go towards relationship support.
"Even if they're supporting older parents, which is a time for great pressure for a family, that there's someone there that can help them - so this idea of funding children's centres so that they're a source of much broader help and advice for families all through life."
