A Christian woman is due to appear in court on Friday morning to be sentenced after being charged with murdering her terminally ill friend, who she met at churc
Heather Davidson, 53, from North Yorkshire, admitted that she smothered David Paterson, 81, in his care home, but claimed his death was a mercy killing.
The woman had been visiting Mr Paterson, who was described as a loving family man with deeply-held religious beliefs, at Sowerby House care home.
Mr Paterson had cancer and had been expected to die naturally within days.
It emerged in court the woman had phoned the cancer charity Macmillan and told them about her intention to kill the elderly man.
Heather Davidson potentially faces a life sentence when she appears at Teesside Crown Court.
