Church calling for creatives and techies

by Eno Adeogun

Do you have ideas about creating apps, websites or social media campaigns which could bring people to faith in Jesus Christ?

If so, the Church of England is looking for you!

A new programme called Digital Labs will gather coders, creatives and techies who have the skills and passion for using technology to aid the church.

Adrian Harris, the Church of England's head of Digital Communications told Premier his inspiration behind the project.

During News Hour he said: "We've realised that there's a huge number of people out in the country - Christian techies and creatives - who've got lots of great ideas.

"But in terms of gathering people together and really building things that bring more people to faith and help grow people's faith, there's a huge opportunity."

The project is part of the Church's renewal and reform programme which aims to build on the three goals - set by General Synod in 2010 - to address some of the deep-rooted missional challenges facing the Church of England.

"This Digital Labs is one of those really key pillars that is part of our work.

The Church said on its Facebook page "Whether you have a fully formed plan for an app, website or social media campaign or just a spark of an idea, we want to hear from you".

The first Digital Lab event will be taking place on Saturday 24th February 2018 in central London, where people will have the opportunity to network before pitching ideas to a panel of industry experts.

The Church of England aims to turn the best ideas it hears into a reality made available to its more than 16,500 churches.

Unlike many websites we haven't put up a paywall — we want to keep our journalism free at the point of need and as open as we can. Premier’s news output takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. No one in the USA is sharing news like we are across radio, magazines and online so please help us to continue that today.

For a monthly gift of $11 or more we’d also be able to send you a free copy of the brand new Premier Bible, a wonderful Anglicised version of the NLT packed with exclusive bonus content, reading plan and resources to help you get the most out of scripture.

Your monthly support will make a world of difference. Thank you.
