Youth For Christ was speaking after a University of Oxford study found people picked on as kids were twice as likely to develop depression as children who weren't bullied.
In a study of just under 4000 13 to 18-year-olds, a third of adults who got depression were victimised in earlier years.
Researchers suggested more needed to be done in schools to stop bullying as a result.
Dani Knox, from Youth for Christ, told Premier's News Hour: "I'm surprised that it's not higher. I think the words that people say in our lives have a massive effect, and even as a child or a teenager you hold those words with you into your adult life. You can't get rid of them if they've had a real impact.
"I think it's important that young people know that we're there. There was a report done by The Princes' Trust in 2013, and it said that 22 percent of young people felt that they didn't have anyone to talk to. But we have so many in our churches, in Christian organisations, that are there ready to listen.
"The medication isn't just the solution, but it needs to come with something more, and that's where churches and Christian organisations can get involved, because medication is not enough."
