CofE reports dead Labour MP to police

Leo Abse, who died in 2008 aged 91, is now being investigated by police on suspicion of child abuse.

His name was given to the Metropolitan Police's Operation Fernbridge inquiry.

The investigation is looking into an alleged Westminster VIP paedophile network.

A Church of England spokesman said: "An allegation was made to a priest, who passed it on to us, and we passed it on to Fernbridge."

Scotland Yard refused to comment and it is not known when the allegation was made.

Leo Abse was an MP for Pontypool and Torfaen between 1958 and 1987.
