Hollywood comes to Lincoln Cathedral

by Eno Adeogun

The King is being made by Netflix and is based on William Shakespeare's Henry the Fourth and Henry the Fifth.

While the cathedral was closed off to the public since around 7am when the film crew arrived, services continued as normal, with visitors using a different entrance.

However, a face many people may have been hoping to catch a glimpse of, wasn't present.

Richard Main, the owner of Chapterhouse, confirmed on Instagram that Mr Pitt wouldn't be in the city.

"Henry V's coronation is being filmed in Lincoln Cathedral this week and the huge lights outside the building shall be shining through these beautiful windows," he said.

"They have added faux candle stands too for effect. Brad Pitt's film The King is a Netflix release though he's not actually in it or in Lincoln... deep sighs abound."

This isn't the first time Lincoln has hosted a major Hollywood production.

Tom Hanks visited the city to film part of the 2006 film The Da Vinci Code at Lincoln Cathedral.
