His Royal Highness came to St. John's in Southall this afternoon where to met members of the Southall Faiths Forum, which includes representatives of the local Sikh, Muslim, Hindu and Christian communities.
Welcomed by children playing south Asian dhol drums and a performance from local school choirs, Prince Charles also met organisers of various projects aimed at building community ties locally.
These included the Craft & Conversation initiative where more than 50 women come to St John's for English and creativity classes.
Another initiative being showcased was The Outside Football Project where a special football cage is taken into local housing estates, parks and schools.
Today's visit by HRH to the ethnically diverse area of west London was not his first.
St John's is located next to the Sri Guru Singh Sabah, the world's largest Gurdwara (Sikh place of worship) outside of India, which the Prince opened in 2003.
Organisers of today's conference say Southall has experiences ethnic tensions and racially-motivated violence in the past but they hope the area will set an example to other ethnically diverse areas.
