A list of the top 50 special moments in life has been complied and rated marriage as number one.
Harry Benson from the Marriage Foundation told Premier's News Hour he is not surprised: "From a Christian perspective, it's going to be important because it reflects the union Jesus and the church and it also reflects the making of a covenant."
He added: "whether we're believes or not, we make a covenant arrangement and convent is really an exchange of identities, you and me then become us, and we become a couple."
Passing your driving test was next on the list that contained moments that are both modern and more traditional.
Seeing your first child born, and buying a first car were on the list, as well as reaching 100 followers on Twitter and taking a selfie with a celebrity.
Elizabeth Shaw chocolatiers conducted the survey which also had big birthdays and a smile from a stranger on the list.
