The NHS has confirmed it does not record instances of discrimination against its staff because of their religious beliefs.
Minister of State at the Department of Health, Philip Dunne, said his office did not keep notes when NHS workers reported mistreatment on the basis of their faith.
He was responding to a question from Christian DUP MP Jim Shannon.
Mr Dunne said: "The Department does not collect information on instances of discrimination against National Health Service staff resulting from their religious beliefs.
"We would expect all employers to ensure that staff are treated with respect."
Discrimination against NHS staff can range from patients refusing to being treated by someone of a specific faith to issues that can end up at employment tribunals.
In April 2015 a Christian worker said she was discriminated against when she was sacked for giving a Christian book to a Muslim colleague.
A tribunal ruled against Victoria Wasteney and said she was treated "reasonably" by her employer, East London NHS Trust.
Elsewhere nurse Sarah Kuteh was sacked from Darent Valley hospital in Dartford for offering to pray for patients.
She's intending to take her case to a tribunal.
