A national Day of Prayer was held on Tuesday to pray for and thank all of those involved.
It falls on the 25th anniversary of Sports Chaplaincy UK.
Warren Evans, from Sports Chaplaincy UK, told Premier: "There 151,000 sports clubs in the UK, that gives you a community of 25 million people.
"We believe at Sports Chaplaincy that it's a great opportunity to love on people and encourage the church to look sensitively towards that community."
Warren Evans added: "Go in with an open mind and an open heart.
"Say 'how can I help?', and it might just be picking up footballs, it might just be praying on the touch line... as a church we have some great skillsets that we can transition into a different community and help them."
Prayer points:
- Pray for your community of Sport, include simply praying for local children's teams
- Pray for your local Sports Chaplain, how can you serve and support them in their work?
- Give thanks for 25 years of faithful work and pray for Sports Chaplaincy UK as it serves and help the wider community of sport
The number of Chaplains in the UK has grown in recent years, with Sports Chaplaincy UK saying it's trained over 200 Chaplains in the last two years.
