Priest jailed over abuse

Father Anthony McSweeney molested him while working at Grafton Close Children's Home in Hounslow, west London, between 1979 and 1981.

The 68-year-old was also found guilty of making indecent images of children - but cleared of three indecent assaults on two other boys.

The court had heard how he preyed on the boy with John Stingemore, 72, who managed the care home, but was found dead earlier this year just weeks before the trial began.

Delivering the sentencing at Southwark Crown Court, Judge Alistair McCreath raised his concerns about how McSweeney viewed young people. He said: "He has a voyeuristic interest in children, either in seeing them unclothed, or in seeing them sexually abused by others."

The priest had denied the charges and pleaded not guilty during the trial.
