Prince meets with archbishop and Grand Imam

It's thought Charles would have discussed ties between Christians and Muslims at the meeting with Justin Welby and the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar in Egypt, Professor Dr Ahmad Al-Tayyeb.

The royal invited the pair to Clarence House last night after the imam, who's seen as the one of the highest authorities in Sunni Islam, was welcomed to Lambeth Palace by the Archbishop of Canterbury on Tuesday.

Charles has spoken out often about the persecution of Christians in the Middle East and in particular the threat to the Coptic Church in Egypt.

On Tuesday after a meeting with the archbishop, the imam told Premier he was against Western military action to target Islamic extremists: "I prefer the diplomatic solution because I represent an organisation which refuses bloodshed, no matter where is this bloodshed and where from."
