Food drinks and live music will be available all day at the 'We love London Bridge' event in support of the Red Cross appeal set up after the recent terrorist attack.
The Very Rev Andrew Nunn, Dean of Southwark Cathedral tells Premier why his Church wanted to join in: "These are our neighbours and they were very much involved in everything that went on that dreadful evening.
"We want this area to continue to be a place where people come to enjoy themselves. You know, that's a good thing. Jesus was forever accepting invitations to banquets. He knew how important it is sometimes to sit round a table and have a meal with other."
The British Red Cross launched a new UK Solidarity Fund to help victims of terror anywhere in the UK following the terror attack in London where a trio of terrorists ploughed into pedestrians on the bridge with a van, before stabbing people in pubs and bars in Borough Market. All proceeds from today's event will go directly to the UK Solidarity Fund to help the victims and support their recovery during this difficult time.
Rev Andrew Nunn told Premier that the police are "fully involved and have been informed about the event" and will be "as vigilant as they can be".
While he acknowledged "we are all vulnerable", he explained why people shouldn't be afraid to attend the day's festivities: "There can be put in place various measures to mitigate against things happening but at the end of the day, if people are determined to do what it seems some people want to do within our society, there is very little others can do to stop them.
"But I think if we allow people to terrorise us into not going out in London, not meeting up with our friends, not doing the things that we would like to do then other people for whatever reasons they have, have actually succeeded in what they were doing."
The event's website invites everyone to attend and celebrate its diverse community that "we're so proud of, made up of different colours, nationalities and races".
Rev Andrew Nunn said he was hopeful the day would be enjoyable and added: ""By the grace of God - and that's how we forever move - and in his strength, all will be well."
