Special service for Wiltshire Tunisia victims

by Aaron James

St Nicholas Church in Biddeston has also created a book of condolence for Eileen Swannack and John Welch, who were well known in the local community.

They were one of 24 Britons and 38 people in total who died, when a gunman attacked the Tunisian beach resort of Sousse a week ago.

Prime Minister David Cameron announced afterwards that a minute's silence would be held at noon to remember the 38 victims.

Revd John Philpott, from St Nicholas, told Premier: "Things like this just don't happen here, and I don't think people can quite get their heads round the fact that we're looking at two victims, people that have been killed by IS in a terrorist attack.

"The impact of all this probably won't hit home until the funerals take place.

"It will be essentially a service of vigil for all the victims of the atrocities last week, remembering specifically John and Eileen but we'll be naming each of those that was killed.

"The service will include some readings from the Bible, some prayers, some moments for reflection and also some quiet music."
