TV's Revd Bottley to speak at LGBT Pride in London

Revd Kate Bottley, who is joining the festival's march with her 14-year-old, told Premier it is important Christians add a voice of support in "every walk of life."

Thousands of people are expected to take to the streets of London for the event which celebrates the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community.

Speaking with Premier, Revd Bottley said: "We can say that God loves everyone. Whatever your view on LGBT communities and whatever your views on equal marriage, I think we can all agree that God loves and everybody and God wants everybody to love him in return."

Founder of the Pioneer Engage Church, Gerald Coates said not all Christians will agreed with a pastor attending London's Pride event.

He told Premier God is loving but He does not approve of all lifestyle choices, adding: "God loves me. God loves you. God loves your listeners. That doesn't mean he approves of certain things we do; we might slip up in speech, or in attitude, or in sexuality or in forgiveness. That is quite different to developing a lifestyle of those things."

London's Pride event returns to capital amid a heightened police presense, following the deaths of 49 people in a mass shooting at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida, two weeks ago.

Those attending have been urged by the commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe to "take reasonable precaution" but said there is no intelligence to suggest plans to attack the event.

A one-minute time of reflection will be held in memory of the Orlando victims.

Nearly 300 organisations including religious groups, charities and businesses, are set to take part.
