The Queen has approved the appointments of Revd Anne Hollinghurst as Bishop of Aston and Revd Dr Graham Tomlin as Bishop of Kensington.
Revd Hollinghurst will move to the Diocese of Birmingham from her current role vicar of St Peter's Church in St Albans.
Speaking about her new role she said: "I hope to contribute my experience and practice in mission in a whole variety of contexts, in walking alongside the many clergy and lay people of the diocese, who are doing all sorts of wonderful and exciting things-helping to focus in together on God's priorities and God's call. A lot of that is about encouragement and in the realising and releasing of gifts.
"Each step of my journey has been enormously exciting and stretching and now I take a rather large gulp as I look towards this next step in ministry to which I believe God is calling me."
She has been welcomed to the diocese by Bishop of Birmingham Rt Revd David Urqhart. He said: "I am delighted that Anne has accepted the invitation to join in leading the Mission of God across Birmingham and region.
"She comes with a wealth of experience of nurturing discipleship and growing the Church. I look forward to having a new episcopal colleague and to seeing faith in Jesus Christ flourish in this generation."
Revd Hollinghurst will become the sixth female bishop in the Church. She is married to Steve, who is a researcher and trainer in mission and culture, and a part-time tutor for Church Army.
Revd Dr Graham Tomlin will move from St Mellitus Theological College where he's currently the Dean. He has worked in theological education for the past 20 years.
Speaking about the move he said: "It is a privilege to be called to serve as a bishop in a growing and dynamic diocese, and an area which already has good momentum.
"My prayer is that God will enable us together to build on that growth, while deepening and strengthening our confidence in the gospel of Jesus Christ."
The Bishop of London, Rt Revd Richard Chartres, has welcomed his appointment. He said: "In his many publications and in his teaching in St Mellitus College, Graham has demonstrated a generous orthodoxy which combines depth with clarity.
"He has continually combined teaching with pastoral care for those preparing for parochial and other ministries. His whole ministry in a sense has been in support of the 'local church' for which he has a passion.
"As Area Bishop he will be able to develop this theme in his ministry as he serves the remarkably diverse Christian communities in West London.
Dr Tomlin is married to Janet with two grown up married children. His interests include many forms of music and sport, including football, cricket, golf and rugby, and Middle Eastern politics and history.
