Odion Ighalo has 14 goals already for the club, ranking him fourth on the list of top scorers this season.
His goals are a pivotal reason newly-promoted Watford FC are currently a respectable 9th place in the Barclay's Premier League.
Mr Ighalo has turned down an offer of at least £80m from the Chinese club Hebei China Fortune out of loyalty to the club - the first English one to sign him - and because he felt God told him not to take it.
He told the Daily Mail: "I prayed about it, and God said it was not for me, no matter how much money it was.
"I knew God would direct me. When I said I don't want to go, they offered me more money, almost £300,000 a week.
"I told them it's not about the money."
Odion Ighalo is from Ajegunle, a slum area of the Nigerian city Lagos.
He is hoping to open an orphanage there by the end of the year.
Mr Ighalo told the paper: "I'm happy to be one of them. I'm proud to be Nigerian and to have come from a ghetto like that.
"Hard work and the grace of God have paid off in my life.
"I am a Christian and I believe so much in God. I'm not perfect. I have my flaws. I am human. Only God is perfect. I try to acknowledge him in my life.
"Whatever I am now and what I am going to be is through God."
