The lead actor in a film about a Christian US soldier who refused to carry or fire a weapon has been nominated for an Academy Award.
Briton Andrew Garfield received the Oscar nomination for his portrayal of Desmond Doss in Hacksaw Ridge - a true story.
Doss, a Seventh-Day Adventist, served in World War Two as a medic but his Christian beliefs meant he adopted a strict pacifist stance. He never fired a weapon during his time in action.
The veteran became the first conscientious objector ever to receive the Medal of Honour, America's highest military award.
Rev Simon Carver, Premier's resident film critic, told the News Hour: "It's a great story about the Seventh-Day Adventist who felt that it was totally inappropriate to carry a weapon but still felt that he was going to go to war.
"It's no good just churning out stuff that you think Christians will go to see, just because it's a Christian film. It's got to be good."
Meanwhile, La La Land equalled the record for the most Academy Award nominations ahead of this year's Oscars with 14.
