Christian graffiti scrawled on synagogue

Israeli police are investigating after the Christian symbols were discovered on the place of worship on Yossi Ben Yoezer Street sometime between Sunday evening and Monday morning.

Writing on Facebook, Wadie Abunassar from the CCHL said: "I condemn the drawing of crosses on wall and doors of a synagogue in Jerusalem. All peoples should respect each other, especially the others' holy sites."

The black graffiti was daubed on windows and a wall prompting the arrival of forensics experts on the scene, however, it's reported police have not yet indicated any possible motive or suspects.

Police spokesperson Luba Samri was quoted by The Times of Israel as saying: "Crosses were spray-painted in black on the wall and windows of the synagogue."

The incident comes after a car loaded with gas cylinders with left outside Bar Yohaye synagogue in Marseilles on Saturday morning.
