Christian mum's Facebook account frozen after homosexuality comments

A conservative blogger from Ohio, Elizabeth Johnston has accused the corporation of trying to censor God's word after she was stopped from using her account for one week.

She said: "Many of us are frustrated by the experience in which we report sexually explicit material and death threats, and Facebook response that it does not violate their community guidelines.

"However, a Christian stating what the Bible says about homosexuality does violate their community guidelines. Facebook just needs to straight up admit that they censor people with biblical views. We're tired of the facade."

Johnston had her account, titled 'The Activist Mommy', frozen for seven days earlier this month after she re-shared comments she made about homosexuality which were previously removed by Facebook.

Johnston, who has been blogging on the account this last year and boasts nearly 75,000 followers on Facebook, said: "Leviticus 18:22 and Leviticus 20:13 similarly call homosexual sex 'detestable' and an 'abomination'."

Facebook's Community Standards guidance for user's state "hate speech" - a term sometimes linked by LGBT campaigners to describe traditional Biblical teachings on sexuality - is not tolerated.

It explains: "Facebook removes hate speech, which includes content that directly attacks people based on their race; ethnicity; national origin; religious affiliation; sexual orientation; sex, gender, or gender identity; or serious disabilities or diseases.

"Organizations and people dedicated to promoting hatred against these protected groups are not allowed a presence on Facebook. As with all of our standards, we rely on our community to report this content to us."

Premier has approached Facebook for a comment.
