Donald Trump reveals which Bible he'll swear his presidential oath on

by Antony Bushfield

Trump's mother, from Scotland, gave him the Bible when he finished Sunday school at New York's First Presbyterian Church in 1955.

He will use that and the same Bible used by Lincoln during his inauguration ceremony on Friday.

The Presidential Inaugural Committee confirmed the decision.

Chair Tom Barrack said: "In his first inaugural address, President Lincoln appealed to the 'better angels of our nature'.

"As he takes the same oath of office 156 years later, President-elect Trump is humbled to place his hand on Bibles that hold special meaning both to his family and to our country."

Lincoln's Bible was also used by President Obama at his inauguration in 2009 and 2013.

President elect Trump has always claimed to be a Christian and said the Bible was his favourite book.

But when asked for his favourite verse he said: "I wouldn't want to get into that because to me it's very personal".
