The Leading the Way ministry leader has been speaking to Premier as Europe comes to terms with a series of terror attacks which extremist group Islamic State has claimed responsibility for.
The latest attack in Normandy, saw priest Fr Jacques Hamel killed at his church.
Addressing the issue of terrorism on Premier's Inspirational Breakfast show, Dr Youssef said: "We are heading towards something that could be eschatological in nature.
"We could be coming close to the return of Christ.
"This is something we need to be reflecting on - not to be terrified about - but to live in joy and excitement."
His warning comes as churches in the UK are asked to take extra precautions to prevent attacks.
National Operational Police Lead for Protect and Prepare Deputy Assistant Commissioner Neil Basu said: "Following recent events in France, we are reiterating our protective security advice to Christian places of worship and have circulated specific advice today. We are also taking this opportunity to remind them to review their security arrangements as a precaution."
Dr Youssef also addressed the wider issue of the wars across the Middle East.
Offering a pessimistic outlook, he said: "I am in doubt that anything is going to get better in the Middle East.
"It is a miracle that it is better in some parts of the Middle East but this turmoil is not going to stop."
Dr Michael Youssef was born in Egypt but was granted US citizenship in 1984.
His books and sermons are accessed by millions across the world.
