Madonna on Pope: "Either he's a copycat or he's secretly in love with me."

The US singer, who's faced criticism of her latest tour for using religious imagery, was performing in Philadelphia after recently playing in New York. Pope Francis is currently in New York and travels to Philadelphia tomorrow.

The "copycat" comment was one of many aimed at the Pope, who she also said was "stalking" her.

After climbing up on a table, the 57-year-old said: "I made it. Can the Pope do that?"

"I've been excommunicated from the Catholic Church three times. It shows the Vatican really cares," she joked.

"Since Popey-wopey is on his way over here, I want to dedicate this song to him," she said before launching into a cover version of 'La Vie en Rose' which means 'Life Through Rose-Tinted Glasses'.

Madonna, who raised Roman Catholic in Michigan, has a long history of run ins with the Vatican. Her 1989 video for 'Like A Prayer' contained imagery that outraged religious leaders, including stigmata and burning crosses.
