Pope Francis warns faithful over fortune tellers

by Hannah Tooley

In his morning Mass, Pope Francis said that fortune tellers and seers cannot help people find eternal life and they do not follow Jesus' teachings.

He said that only Jesus can "show the way" and lead his flock to true happiness, saying that anyone else is "a thief and a robber".

The pontiff was speaking during homily during Mass in the Domus Sanctae Marthae.

He said: "Jesus warned us: 'There will be others who will say the path of the Messiah is this or that.

"Do not listen! Do not hear them. I am the way!

"Jesus is the gate and the way; if we follow him, we will not be mistaken."

The pope went on to say that people find comfort in fortune tellers but that there are three ways to separate these voices from the truth.

He said: "The voice of those who are not Jesus, those who enter through the window, who are thieves, who destroy, who deceive."

He said that it is simple: "Jesus is the gate; he guides us on the path and we know his voice."
