Police in Copenhagen believe they have shot dead the man responsible for two shootings that claimed the lives of the two civilians just hours apart.
The man was ordered to give himself up at a house in the Norrebro area but he refused and opened fire on police before being killed by officers.
It's thought he was the man who injured several people and killed a 55-year-old man during an attack at a freedom-of-speech event.
Hours later police believe he shot a man in the head and injured two police officers near a synagogue in the Danish capital.
Churches across the city are expected to offer prayers following the attack.
Pastor Erik Nielsen from the International Baptist Church in Copenhagen told Premier the city was returning to normal.
He said: "Even now as I walked from the station where the perpetrator was shot, everything seems pretty normal again, even though it happened just a few hours ago.
"Just slightly quieter than usual, but even now as I'm by the lakes people are jogging as usual and biking as usual.
"It just seems like a normal winter's day."
He added: "I'm not exactly sure how else to pray except that people wouldn't be afraid to come to church today and if they do we would just be a little bit more on the alert at our exits.
"We'd... pray for the situation. It wasn't quite as many deaths as there was in Paris and we can be thankful for that."
