The Vatican cricket team has paid tribute to Australian cricketer Phillip Hughes by taking part in the #putoutyourbats twitter campaign.
The Australian batsman collapsed on field after being struck on the back of the neck by a ball during a match. It's claimed he never regained consciousness.
Australian team doctor Peter Brukner said he was not in pain before he passed and was surrounded by his family and close friends.
Following his death, people around the world paid tribute by taking a picture of their cricket bat and posting it on the social networking site.
Cardinal Gianfranco Ravasi tweeted the picture along with details of a special mass taking place at the Vatican for all those in the world of sport who have died.
