Food from farmers affected by a devastating series of earthquakes in central Italy is going on sale at the Vatican's very own supermarket.
Produce - including sausages and cheese - from the region of Lazio is now being stocked at the store in Vatican City which serves employers, retirees and other people with an affiliation to the Vatican.
A particular focus has been given to supporting farmers near the small town of Amatrice in the province of Rieti which was close to the epicentre of a 6.2 magnitude quake on 24th August 2016 which left nearly 300 people dead.
Vatican fire department workers were sent by Pope Francis immediately after the disaster to support rescue efforts, while Vatican medical personnel also volunteered to help.
The supermarket, which is only accessible to those who hold a special access card, is one several sources of income for the Vatican.
Others sources of income include tourism and the Vatican Bank.
More recently, 29 people died in the region of Abruzzo when an avalanche triggered by a series of earthquakes buried a mountain ski resort.
