Yorkshire Muslim team take on Vatican cricketers

by Hannah Tooley

The Vatican team, made up of priests, deacons and seminarians, will take on the Yorkshire team when they travel to Rome in October.

The game will be "a good bridge" between Catholics and Muslims, according to Father Robert McCulloch who founded the Vatican club in 2013.

Speaking in The Times, he added that the game between the Vatican's St Peter's Cricket Club will take on Mount Cricket Club from Bately near Bradford would help the two faiths "in a friendship, energy, good competition and a desire to win without pushing the other lot off the bridge."

The Yorkshire club got in touch to ask to play after they heard about the team when they toured the UK last year.

The one-off match will take place later in the month in Rome.
