Event Description

Premier Christian Radio warmly invites you to "An Evening with the Briscoes" who are coming to London, Birmingham and Liverpool this October!

Join Stuart, Jill and Pete Briscoe from Telling the Truth for an evening of worship, teaching and storytelling, all delivered in the honest, witty and insightful way for which all three Briscoes are so well known.

The Briscoes are the founders of the international bible-teaching ministry Telling the Truth, which shares God's Word through the radio and the internet. Gifted with wisdom, discernment and a bit of English humour, the Briscoes bring the Bible to life. You'll be moved by the emotional appeal of Jill Briscoe, the compelling logic of Stuart Briscoe and the compassionate, yet challenging insights of Pete Briscoe. Although they have three distinct teaching styles, all boldly proclaim God's sovereignty, grace and love.

Stuart, Jill and Pete Briscoe will be at Westminster Chapel in London on Wednesday, 27 October 2010 from 7pm until 9pm and at Birmingham Christian Centre on Friday, 29 October 2010 from 7pm until 9pm, with Dave Bilbrough leading worship at both events.

Stuart & Jill Briscoe will be at Liverpool Lighthouse on Saturday, 30 October 2010 from 7pm until 9pm, with Noel Robinson leading worship at this event.

There will be a Church Leader's Lunch for Pastors and their wives at The Liberal Club on Thursday, 28 October 2010 from 1pm until 3pm.  Seats are limited so book your tickets now!

Stuart Briscoe is known for his logic and wit, and has been preaching since he was just 17 years old. Stuart was born to a believing family in Millom, Cumbria, England in 1930, and began working in banking right after high school and eventually became personal assistant to the chief inspector of the bank. In 1959, a year after he married Jill, a school teacher, they felt a call to leave their careers and serve in full-time ministry.
On a trip to the United States, Stuart was introduced to members of Elmbrook Church, a growing church in Brookfield, Wisconsin. They were seeking a pastor and when Elmbrook invited Stuart to lead them, he accepted, with Jill's blessing.  That was in 1970. For the next 30 years, Stuart served as senior pastor of Elmbrook, and the church experienced explosive growth with attendance gorwing from 300 to 7,000 and numerous sister churches were planted.
In 2000, Stuart decided to step down as pastor; He and Jill began serving as Elmbrook's ministers-at-large, going where they were most needed to support under-resourced churches and missionaries.

Jill Briscoe was born in England and found Christ when she was 18 years old. She never looked back. Upon graduating from Cambridge University, she began working as a teacher by day and had a vigorous street ministry to the youths of Liverpool by night.
She met Stuart at a youth conference and they married in 1958. In the 50 years since, Jill has become a highly sought-after Bible teacher and author who travels around the world ministering to under-resourced churches and speaking at international seminars and conferences. Since 2000, she and Stuart, who was formerly senior pastor of Elmbrook Church for 30 years, have had the joy of equipping and encouraging believers across the globe in their roles as ministers-at-large for Elmbrook.
Jill has authored more than 40 books including devotionals, study guides, poetry and children's books. Her vivid, relational teaching style touches the emotions and stirs the heart.

Pete Briscoe was born in Kendall, a small town in North England into the ministry family of Stuart and Jill Briscoe. While his father travelled for months at a time with Torchbearers, an international ministry, his mother was very involved in sharing the Word of God with local kids through her street ministry. Pete grew up immersed in his parents' faith and evangelism.
In 1970, the family moved to America when Stuart accepted the job as senior pastor of Elmbrook Church in suburban Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Pete completed his education at Bethel College in St. Paul, Minnesota, earning a degree in Speech Communication with minors in Bible and Political Science. He returned to Elmbrook to serve as the Junior High. He completed his Master's of Divinity degree in just three years, while Libby supported the family as a physician's assistant. Shortly before finishing school, Bent Tree Bible Fellowship in Dallas, Texas, invited Pete to join them as senior pastor, and he has served in that role since 1992.
