The modern state of Israel is 60 years old this year. All year, Israelis have been marking the occasion in various ways and Premier's "Inspirational Breakfast" show was invited by the Israel Government Tourist Office in London to go out to the Holy Land to reflect on life in Israel at 60.
So...John Pantry and Cindy Kent duly packed their bags and flew out to Tel Aviv courtesy of EL AL Israel Airlines to bring our listeners a fascinating glimpse into life in this small country that never seems to be out of our news.
Join them as they broadcast LIVE from the capital, Jerusalem and the northern city of Tiberias on the shores of Lake Galilee. Hear some fascinating guests from all faiths and walks of life.
Follow John & Cindy's Blogs detailing their experiences fresh each day and keep coming back to this page to see photos and videos of the places in the Bible they will be visiting and which we have all read about!

The Breakfast in Israel Blog: Friday 26th - Jerusalem
I can’t believe we’ve just finished the last programme! The week has simply flown by. But before talking about that – let me tell you what we did yesterday. After the show we headed just down the road from the hotel to a place where Herod Antipas discovered the hot springs – and there’s an almost complete beautiful mosaic floor from a synagogue from the 4th Century.
Then we to Tabgha – which is revered as the site where Jesus fed the five thousand. A beautiful church has been built over the top of the rock where the miracle took place. The church is very simple and peaceful. Next stop was Peter’s House – where again a lovely church has been built which is ‘suspended’ over the ruins of the house. In the church there’s a huge glass floor which means you can look down into the ruins. Such a clever idea! Again, a place of peace and quiet and a good place to sit and pray or reflect. Next to the house is the ruin of a synagogue from the time of Jesus and it’s reckoned to be the one where Jesus actually went. Amazing! But that’s the story of Israel – all the places you’ve read and heard about all your life, suddenly really come to life. We then boarded a small boat and headed out onto the sea. It was a brilliantly sunny day with the bluest of blue skies and the water looked like glass. We were on board with a Catholic group from Mexico and a Mexican Priest who lives in Jerusalem. Once we were in the middle of the lake they cut the engines and the Priest read from Matthew the story of Jesus calming the storm on the lake. He then gave a short homily on it. My Mexican is zero – but I was able to think about the story and how Jesus calms the ‘storms’ in our lives, sometimes on a daily basis, if we put our trust in Him. There was then a short time for reflection.
This was followed by what can only be described as an Israeli disco! Lots of music and the group all got up and danced in the middle of the boat! Luke fled to the prow of the ship and John declined the invitation to dance – and so did I! But it was all good fun. Then – back to the hotel – shower, change and dinner. This was a twenty minute drive out of Tiberius up in the mountains to a farm where you can stay and ride horses. The food was delicious – as indeed, every meal has been out here. I must have gone up a dress size – so it’s bread and water when I get back! And so to this mornings show – another goodie. We talked to the General Manager of the Holiday Inn where we’re staying – and we congratulated him on a wonderful staff who have looked after our every need.
Our main guest was Tati Weiss, the Head of Study at Nes Ammim – a Christian run kibbutz which is not far away. We heard from her the history of the place and the sort of work they do in reconciliation. Much needed and is really the hope for the future of this land.
Now, Luke is trying to take the laptop away from me to pack away with all the rest of the gear – but he’s not getting it before I thank him for his fantastic help this week. Not only has he done some superb video camera work but he’s also been a great help to John and myself. He’s been our ‘right-hand man’ in so many ways. Well done Luke – great work! This afternoon we’re off to Nazareth and Cana and then in the morning we head to Tel Aviv. John and myself are going to have a chat with Tony Miles on the Big Breakfast around 10.30 if you get the change to listen. And then it’s on the plane on Sunday and home!
Thanks for ALL your comments on the webpages and via the Premier Community – and we’re so pleased we’ve managed to capture a little of the flavour of life in Israel at 60. But, of course, the best way to experience it is to come here in person! Shalom and Blessings
— Cindy
