Catholic Labour MP misses embryo vote

July 1, 2008

Catholic Labour MP Ruth Kelly will not be voting on controversial embryo research next week.

It's reported she's being given permission by Gordon Brown to spend the day in Brussels on business.

Mrs Kelly was one of three Christian politicians who helped win a free vote on the 'Human Fertilisation and Embryology Bill.'

A proviso was originally made for ministers to support this same Bill at it's third reading.
