One in five children are globally illiterate

July 4, 2008

One in five children have not discussed worldwide news stories at school leaving them "globally illiterate".

Thats the thoughts of education charity DEA.

They claim education in England is failing to prepare children for the wider world.

Part of their research suggests only 50 per cent young people think its a good idea to have people from all backgrounds living in the same country.

Steve Clarkson is a Christian teacher.

He explains to Premier his concerns with this issue.
