Brown backs new plans to reduce knife crime

Gordon Brown will later defend new Government measures to combat knife crime.

It's after ideas put forward by the Home Secretary yesterday were slammed by the opposition.

They include plans to force teenagers caught carrying knives to visit stab victims in hospital.

Incidents in Bristol, Birmingham and London have highlighted how serious and widespread the problem is.
