Council to go back to court over Christian registrar
July 16, 2008
A Council is appealing against a ruling that it unlawfully discriminated against a Christian registrar, who refused to perform same sex civil partnerships.
Last week Lillian Ladele won her case against Islington Council for harrasment on the grounds of her faith.
The council said that she couldn't carry out her job, unless she performed the ceremonies.
But a tribunal decided it was unfair - and she should be allowed to swap services with other officials.
