Tutu calls for forgiveness for violence

July 22, 2008

Archbishop Desmond Tutu has called for God's forgiveness for the recent anti-immigrant violence in South Africa.

The former Archbishop of Capetown made the plea in front of large congregation in Johannesburg.

All Anglican churches were closed on Sunday for a common service of repentance and reconciliation.

The violence was mainly directed at Zimbabweans fleeing the Mugabe regime.
