Nigerian gay rights campaigner awarded asylum

July 28, 2008

The head of a Christian gay rights group in Nigeria has been granted asylum in the UK.

Davis Mac-Iyalla from Changing Attitudes has been assaulted and received death threats.

He arrived in the UK to view the debates on homosexuality in the church at the Lambeth Conference.

He will now stay here temporarily because it's unsafe to return to his home country.
