Police in Teeside are cracking down on theives who steal metal from churches.

Theft of this kind in the UK has risen by one hundred and fifty per cent in the last two years.

Churches are being encouraged to label items and install CCTV.

An equivalent to neighbourhood watch titled 'worship watch' has also been used in some churches.
