Israeli Prime Minister to step down

Peace talks in the Holy land are being thrown into turmoil after Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert announced he's to step down.

He's been under pressure to quit over a corruption inquiry and his handling of recent conflicts.

A spokesman for Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas says negotiations will continue.

The White House says its goal of a deal being reached this year is unchanged.
