Winchester Cathedral’s Christmas Market is recognised as one of the best Christmas Markets in Europe.
The Christmas Market is inspired by traditional German Christmas markets and attracts close to half a million visitors each year.
In a recent article in the New York Post Winchester tops the list of 9 European cities and is the only UK city to be listed, with Winchester Cathedral at the heart of the festivities.
The New York Post says ‘this peaceful market town lights up with a delightful Christmas market and an ice-skating rink in the shadow of the medieval Winchester Cathedral, where Christmas hymns echo through the longest nave in Europe’.
To help share the Christmas story they have an enchanting nativity scene and Mission Chalet built around the theme “Light in the darkness”.
Premier’s Correspondent Ian Britton discovered more about the Christmas Market with The Very Rev'd Catherine Ogle, Dean of Winchester.
