Forward Together in Hope

With over 170 worshipping communities in the Diocese of Hexham & Newcastle, the Catholic community in the North East has started an initiative called Forward Together in Hope.

Over the next three years the diocese is hoping that each worshipping community will look in detail at how best it can flourish into the future.

Father Jim O'Keefe, the Diocesan Development Director, told Premier’s Ian Britton:

“The bottom line is the question: how do we ensure that all those who want to worship in our churches, 37,000 every weekend in our diocese, how do we ensure these people in future become disciples of Jesus?”

Bishop Seamus Cunningham, the Bishop of Hexham and Newcastle Diocese, commented:

“The entire process will be firmly rooted in prayer and a real openness to the guidance of the Holy Spirit.”

Premier’s Ian Britton met up with Fr Jim O'Keefe and they talked about how Forward Together in Hope was going so far.
