Time for Change

The churches of Birmingham stand together against racism.

Calvin Young is Senior Minister at Mount Zion community church which has been based in Aston since 1954. Aston is a very diverse community, in the city of Birmingham which in the early hours of January 2nd, 2003 witnessed best friends Letisha Shakespeare, aged 17 and Charlene Ellis, 18 become innocent victims of a drive-by shooting. As the brutal killing of George Floyd, broke Pastor Calvin's Heart, he spoke with our regional correspondent Rachel Matthews about his experiences in the past and the calling he has for this time.  Pastor Calvin and leaders from across the City of Birmingham have created a statement in film, in which they stand together in unity and purpose, knowing it's a time for change.
