Welcome boxes to help refugees

Upbeat Communities, a Derby based Christian Charity, has developed a simple way to help refugees as they settle into a new area.

Welcome boxes.

They help train volunteers from local churches and organisations to deliver a welcome box filled with small gifts to the homes of recently arrived refugees. These volunteers offer friendship and help connect people in to local services and activities.

Premier’s Northern Correspondent Ian Britton spoke to Emily Holden, National Welcome Boxes Co-ordinator, about how the project works.
