Bishop of Bath and Wells to stay in castle after U-turn

In a break with centuries of tradition, Church Commissioners wanted to move the home from the medieval palace to allow Rt Revd Peter Hancock more privacy.

The Church said commissioners failed to anticipate the impact their decision to re-house the Bishop would have on those living in and around the diocese. Senior Chaplain and advisor to the Bishop, Revd Stephen Lynas, tells Premier he never really understood why the move was suggested in the first place.
