Natalie Collins is speaking after Muirfield in East Lothian voted 80 per cent in favour of allowing women to become members. It needed a two-thirds majority to pass.
It's after Muirfield was kicked out of being one of the clubs which make up the prestigious Open Championship golf tournament, because it refused to allow female golfers in a previous vote last May.
Muirfield hosted the Open until 2013 and has now been restored to the list of grounds which participate after admitting women.
Speaking to Premier, Natalie Collins said: "I think it's really good news that women are being allowed into this establishment and I think it shows that it's important that there is pressure from all different sides in order for people to change their minds.
"There's just no justifiable argument for a male-only club... In 2017 it's frankly ridiculous that this is a vote that had to happen really.
"The question is whether women are going to want to be in a club when a percentage of the men there aren't going to want them there."
Muirfield said: "We look forward to welcoming women as members who will enjoy, and benefit from, the great traditions and friendly spirit of this remarkable club."
Given the waiting list to join Muirfield, women will not be able to join the club until 2019 at the earliest.
