Church of Scotland welcomes independence blueprint

A 670-page white paper claims each Scot would be 600 pounds better off under the plans, with the SNP proposing to keep the pound as the country's currency.

There would be more childcare help for mothers wanting to return to work, and an early removal of Trident nuclear missiles from Scotland's military bases. First Minister Alex Salmond also claims an independent nation would likely push for membership of the European Union.

Revd Sally Foster-Fulton is from the Church and Society Council at the Church of Scotland.

She spoke to Des Busteed on Premier's News Hour she welcomes the document.
