The 27 year old, a child of missionary parents, will take on 17 other candidates in a bid to win a £250,000 investment from Lord Sugar.

He has run youth conferences across the UK and currently works as a sales manager for a major car brand. He is responsible for managing and generating new business for over 700 companies across London.

Speaking about the challenge of The Apprentice, he said: "My ability in developing new and innovative ideas is one my strongest business skill. I also have excellent public speaking abilities.

"With my creativity, my passion, my charm, my likeability along with Lord Sugars investment, we'll go a long way."

Boateng has also been involved in charitable projects and also spends time investing in young professionals.

He'll face the businessmen and women from across the UK who've described themselves as "awesome", "a Tasmanian devil" and "James Bond".

The candidates will be split into two teams in the first episode where they will sell antiques at auction. At least one person will be fired in week one.

Other tasks in the series will see the candidates coming up with an advertising campaign for jeans, manufacturing a range of sweets and creating their own brand of gin.

The first episode will air at 9pm on Thursday 6th October.
